THICKNESS: Knowing the best option for your martial arts style is the first step in choosing the right Dollamur mat. We have developed a general guideline to assist you in selecting the best flooring for your dojo.

FOAM: Dollamur FLEXI-Roll® and FLEXI-Connect® Mats are manufactured using the latest in athletic foam technology. The closed-cell, cross-linked foam provides maximum shock absorption and will maintain performance throughout their life.

TEXTURE: Mats are available in both smooth and hybrid tatami textures. The hybrid tatami mat design offers less mat burn than a traditional tatami. Dollamur on-staff athletes helped develop this unique tatami pattern to provide grip strength but in a lower profile - Made by Athletes, For Athletes™.

Dollamur vinyl in smooth or tatami finish is thick, durable and pre-treated with a biocide. The advanced technique used to bond the vinyl to the foam means the surface will never require reconditioning and will provide a stable but forgiving base.

Antimicrobial vs. Biocide

Dollamur made several recent technological advances in our mats, starting with the production of the vinyl mat surface. In recent years there has been a key initiative in the healthcare industry to move away from the use of anti-microbials and replace these with a biocidal additive. Dollamur infuses a biocidal additive which is registered with the EPA under FIFRA in the production of the vinyl mat surface.

SPRING FLOORS

How to Install and What You Need

Installing a spring floor under your Martial Arts mats can add a level of comfort and cushion for your training. The primary benefit is that it absorbs shocks for take-downs and falls.

DOUBLE LAYER WOOD SPRING FLOORS: Adding a Spring Floor under your Dollamur mats is fairly straight forward. We recommend a two-layer system as described in the video installation here. This design uses an alternating top layer of wood to cover seams from the first layer giving you a stronger base.

MATERIALS NEEDED: Dollamur Martial Arts staff are well versed in the installation and material needs to create your spring floor. They can assist with the design, proper springs, material information and Dollamur mats based on your needs and facility dimensions.
